HYSA Mission Statement
“The purpose of HYSA shall be to develop, promote, advance, and administer the game of soccer among youth and adult players registered with HYSA.”
HYSA Vision HYSA will be Tennessee's premier soccer association, providing: * Recreational, competitive and educational opportunities for players, coaches and referees. * First class fadilities. * And the financial and organizational strength to support these programs and promote soccer in our community. The Organization
HYSA was organized in 1989. Through the efforts of State Representative Gary Odom and others, 47 acres of unused land was leased from the State to Metro, who leased it to HYSA. The program has grown from 300 players in 1989 to over 2,000 players and participation has increased steadily in recent years .
HYSA is a non-profit organization, experiencing continued growth for the past 14 years. In 2002, HYSA hired an Executive Director to manage the league, and since then HYSA has hired numerous additional paid staff positions. In 2008, an official unification and partnership was formed between HYSA and its travel component, Harpeth FC. This partnership added another 400+ youth soccer players and families to the HYSA program. The parents of registered players, coaches, and referees are members of the organization and once a year elect a Board of Directors to govern the HYSA. You may contact any board member or call 662-1466 with questions. All Board Meetings are open to the public. All parents of players are welcome to attend. Board Meetings are typically held the second Monday of every month. HYSA Philosophy
This is recreational soccer. It should be fun. Good sportsmanship and how to be a graceful winner and loser should be taught. Each player should play several positions during the course of the season. This is best for young players. Each player must play at least 50% of the game.
